EV charger installs that match your car and your switchboard

You've bought or are about to pick up an electric vehicle and need a proper home charger, not an extension cord run out to the driveway. The right install depends on your car's charging capability and whether your switchboard has the capacity to handle it without tripping other things in the house.

What's involved

  1. 1 Check your switchboard capacity and existing circuits
  2. 2 Confirm charger type, amperage and mounting location with you
  3. 3 Run a dedicated circuit from the switchboard to the charger location
  4. 4 Install and mount the charger, including any load management device if needed
  5. 5 Test the full charging cycle before handover
  6. 6 Provide a compliance certificate for the installation

What happens next

  1. 1 Tell us your car model, charger brand (if chosen), and where you park
  2. 2 We assess your switchboard, either from photos or a site visit, and give you a fixed quote
  3. 3 Installation booked in and tested with your charger on the day

EV Chargers — common questions

Can my switchboard handle an EV charger without an upgrade?

It depends on your existing board capacity and what else is running in the house, particularly ducted air conditioning or an electric hot water system. We check this before quoting rather than assuming, because it changes the price.

Do I need a specific brand of charger or can I supply my own?

We can supply and install a charger, or install one you've already bought. If you're supplying your own, let us know the model before we quote so we can confirm compatibility and mounting requirements.

How long does home charging actually take?

It depends on your car's onboard charger and the charger you install, but a dedicated home charger is significantly faster than a standard power point — often the difference between an overnight charge and a two-day one.

Do I need council or strata approval?

For a standalone house, generally no. If you're in a strata scheme or apartment complex, check with your strata manager first — we're happy to provide technical details they might ask for.

Is there a rebate available in WA?

Availability changes over time, so it's worth checking current state and federal rebate programs when you're planning your install. We'll flag anything relevant we're aware of at the time of quoting.

What's covered under warranty?

Installation workmanship is guaranteed, and the charger itself carries manufacturer warranty separately.
